Farzaneh, who is three months pregnant and works as a driving instructor, is convinced that she has caught Jalal in a romantic affair. In 1399, news of the production of “Subtraction,” directed by Mani Haghighi, was first released.

Initially, Parinaz Izadyar was announced as the lead actress in the role of the woman, and even some pre-production photos were taken with the director.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts, Parinaz Izadyar withdrew from the project, and Mani Haghighi, who had previously collaborated with her in “Kanun” and “Simple Reception,” entered his third collaboration with her as a director.

The filming of “Subtraction” was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the film finally entered production in the summer of 2021.

“Subtraction” was initially planned to be presented at the 40th Fajr Film Festival, but the lengthy post-production process led to its absence from the festival.

The film’s first screening took place at the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in North America.

Leaked High-Quality Copies:

Following the leaks of complete and high-quality versions of films like “Leila’s Brothers” and “World War III,” the film “Subtraction” also fell victim to the third case of international leaks(!) in the past year. The common factor among these three films is their presence at international festivals and, possibly, their deals with foreign distribution platforms. These films are made available to Iranian audiences through various quality versions as soon as they are screened at foreign festivals.

This unfortunate incident took place on August 15, 2023, for Mani Haghighi’s latest film, leading to discussions and critiques.
